SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Responsible for management control and efficient operation of the Transient Lodging facilities. Conducts surveys and studies to ensure that services and facilities meet the needs, cleanliness and desire of patrons. Implements new policies or innovative promotions that increase occupancy rate, deliver quality guest service and maintain the required level of profitability. Develops and implements strategies/procedures to ensure safety and security of occupants.
Maintains oversight and monitoring of all facets of transient lodging to include financial operations to include development and execution of Nonappropriated (NAF) operating budgets, NAF capital expenditure budget, Appropriated Fund (APF) expenditures and construction project development. Reviews/analyzes monthly financial operations, ensuring integrity of financial transactions and procurement management. Directs the preparation and execution of all reports required by higher authority. Recommends changes to improve financial status considered necessary. Ensures compliance of preventative maintenance and deep clean programs.
Plans, organizes work, and manages internal procedures and resources to ensure maximum productivity and economies. Manages new property resources and may provide direction on facility renovations and improvements. Develops long range plans in conjunction with internal operating directives and exercises internal personnel management authorities as delegated by the higher-level supervisor with regard to subordinate supervisors and employees.
Evaluates needs on a continuing basis by interest surveys, personal contacts with individuals and/or groups and other data collection and analysis to determine customer interest and need. Determines facilities staffing and equipment needs for new or expanded programs and justifies recommendations and requirements. Reviews, analyzes and implements trends in the Hospitality Industry.
Directly or indirectly through subordinate supervisors supervises employees. Counsels and trains employees, schedules and directs work, appraises work performance. Approves and disapproves leave, and personnel actions. Must be alert to alcohol/substance abuse and take appropriate action. Effectively supports the Marine Corps Equal Employment Opportunity and Sexual Harassment policies, and ensures compliance with fire, safety, and other environmental issues and programs. Maintains and enforces security of funds, merchandise, supplies and equipment to preclude or minimize the potential for fraud, waste and abuse.
Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Ensures implementation of an activity safety program in accordance with the Base Safety Program. Advi employees of available safety regulations, instructions, materials and equipment. Promptly reports workplace accidents/injury to the Human Resources Office. Ensures that safety training is provided to employees. Complies with OSHA standards and takes action to correct unsafe or unhealthy working conditions. Ensures employees understand infractions that can result in disciplinary actions, and follows through with appropriate action. Ensures minimal loss of duty by complying with ¿Return to Work¿ program initiatives, and following up on employee well-being.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
EVALUATIONS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of four years experience in managing a motel/hotel operation or performing work in a related field, one year having been at a supervisory level. A Certified Hotel Administrator designation is preferred. Knowledge of financial management principles and experience in budget processes. Ability to supervise a diverse workforce. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; deals effectively with subordinates, management officials, and patrons. Ability to use a computer and various software. Must possess and maintain a valid driver¿s license. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required.
