Serves as the Liaison for large work activities related to the integration and operation of telecommunication services provided by the FAA Telecommunications Infrastructure (FTI) and FAA Enterprise Network Services (FENS). Performs work requiring agency-wide leadership for highly complex and challenging technical activities associated with analyzing, designing, modifying, developing, installing, repairing, fabricating, maintaining, or evaluating the most complex systems for which the FAA is responsible.
Applies experience and expert technical knowledge to monitor and evaluate trend data on a nationwide basis and to develop workable solutions for sustaining the National Airspace System (NAS). Uses innovative concepts and approaches to address unanticipated situations adversely affecting operationally critical systems of the National Airspace System (NAS). Is considered a technical expert within the FAA for assigned systems or specialty area and their technical decisions are considered authoritative in area of expertise.
The position performs the following work task/assignments:
May represent the FAA as a senior technical point of contact. Develops briefing papers or FAA senior- level executives and external organizations on significant interruptions or events. Presents briefings to obtain consensus/approval on policies. Coordinates significant technical matters with representatives of external organizations.
This position requires a Secret level security clearance and is a testing designated position.
There is no timeframe requirement at the Level IV/FV-I to compete. Candidates must show experience at the level of difficulty and responsibility that is appropriate to the position. Experience that demonstrates an extensive knowledge of and experience in technology system interrelationships, and management of civilian or military automated aviation, navigation, and electronics systems. Generally, experience at the next lower level Pay Band I/ Level IV or GS/GS-13 or equivalent, meets the minimum qualifications for this position as long as the experience supports the demonstrated abilities identified below.
Specialized Experience is: Experience with servicing the telecommunications Infrastructure (FTI), FAA Voice Enterprise System (FAVES) telephone system, and FAA Radio Communication Link (RCL).
