Duties

Help
  • Drives a platform truck (tow truck) weighing up to 26,000 pounds to transport other vehicles, supplies, and materials throughout the installation, public roads, and city streets in all types of traffic conditions.
  • Responsible for loading and unloading cargo and materials, securing and transporting vehicles.
  • Assist in preparing for and executing the Abandoned Vehicle and NAF Equipment Auctions.
  • Performs driver's maintenance in accordance with established rules and regulations.
  • Moderate physical effort is required in making couplings and maneuvering the longer and heavier vehicles to be towed.

  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all required pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation and a physical examination.
  • Applicant must possess a valid driver's license issued by the state of North Carolina.
  • Must be able to frequently handle objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • This position is covered by the DA Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program. Incumbent is required to sign DA Form 5019-R.
  • This position has critical safety or security responsibilities and as such has been designated as a testing designated position (TDP).
  • As a condition of employment, incumbent of a TDP is subject to a random drug test that occurs without suspicion that a particular individual is using illegal drugs.
  • Ability to work an irregular schedule which may include nights, weekends, holidays, and split shifts.

  1. Must possess a valid Class A driver's license issued by the state of North Carolina.
  2. Must have 12 months of acceptable work experience operating a vehicle having the capacity and gear ratios of the type(s) of vehicles which he/she may be required to operate.
  3. Knowledge of the processing of wreck and impounded vehicles.
