Duties

Help
  • Responsible for the receipt and validation of customer Sales Orders and for managing unfilled orders.
  • Ensure the exception processing associated with allocating inventory to orders, scheduling and releasing the line item(s) to customers, and processing confirmations or denials once inventory is identified.
  • Expedite the resolution of customer supply problems, based on knowledge of material, vendor, and finance master data records within EBS.
  • Ensure forecasts or demand plans developed are provided to the appropriate collaborative partners. Receives and evaluates quantitative or qualitative feedback from collaborative sources.

  • Conduct in depth studies and analysis of Service/Agency demand plans and maintains extensive high-level personal contacts. Serves as technical advisor for assigned programs.
  • Responsible for thorough understanding of Government and commercial approaches to all disciplines involved in program support, including supply, transportation, customs, automation, storage, and inspection, contracting, finance, and other.
  • Require understanding of unique procedures and support to US Navy ships, including loadouts, and multi-service remote locations re-supplied by air and surface shipments, as well as the normal support procedures required for all other customers.
  • Serve as the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) to provide contract oversight for all DLA Troop Support Prime Vendor contracts as specified in the COR appointment letter.
  • Responsible for monitoring the servicing and contract’s compliance with all contract terms which include Navy, Army, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard ordering and receipt, storage and distribution of all five commodities.
  • Monitor and enhance customer relationships by participating in customer outreach initiatives to assess customer satisfaction and inform customers of Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) capabilities.
  • Document customer issues through Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tickets, provide resolution to customer requests/issues and document and provide customers with response to their issues.
  • Communicate and coordinate with prime vendors to ensure their readiness posture and continuous operations to support the Warfighter in contingency.
  • Participate in conferences, discussions, and briefings to coordinate and establish Wartime Host Nation Support as required.

Qualifications

To qualify for a Forward Logistics Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support:

A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after- competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:

  • Experience with automated applications related to Order Fulfillment, Planning, Procurement, major program issues, operations and processes associated with all functional areas, and familiarity with the characteristics and uses of managed items.
  • Experience in business and marketing plans and strategic objectives, marketing theories, practices, and statistical forecasting.
  • Apply, adapt analytical and evaluative methods, plans, and conduct studies to distinguish different demand forecasting techniques and apply them.
  • Experience in performing, planning, and conducting customer support studies, active participation in meetings, and effective coordination with managers, functional specialists and customer personnel, document study findings, prepare briefing materials, and develop correspondence relating to assignments.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Additional information

Expeditionary Civilian Position: This is an Expeditionary Civilian (EC) position, and the incumbent will be designated as Non-Combat Essential (NCE). In the event of a crisis situation, the incumbent may be required to deploy via temporary reassignment or be required to stay in place to support contingency operations. The incumbent may be required to take part in readiness exercises. This position cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the organization to function effectively; therefore, the position requires the incumbent to be screened from military recall. Military Reservists selected for an EC position must arrange for removal from the reserve component prior to appointment to an EC position. This requirement must be met prior to placement in an EC position. Positions identified as EE are subject to deployment to combat support situations. Deployment will be via Temporary Duty (TDY) orders. Deployment may entitle the employee to additional monetary compensation dependent upon the deployment location.
