Duties

Help
  • Assign the immediate tasks to be performed by individual members of the group led.
  • Ensure time standards and deadlines are met and enough workload to keep everyone in work crew busy.
  • Make certain that safety and housekeeping rules are followed.
  • Perform duties as senior inspector responsible for verification inspections.
  • Point of contact for quality deficiency reports (QDRs) and reports of discrepancy (RODs).
  • Coordinate maintenance inspections for the organizational inspection program (OIP).
  • Perform acceptance, initial, in-process and final inspection on a variety of combustion powered:
  • 1) automotive vehicles, over-the-road trucks, comparable combat tactical wheeled and combat tracked vehicles
  • 2) trailers, semi-trailers, vehicle components, graders, bulldozers, conveyors, powered shovels, special purpose equipment and powered ground equipment (gasoline, diesel and turbine engine driven power plant, utility system).

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Heavy Mobile Equipment Repair Inspector Leader without more than normal supervision to include performing inspections on a variety of combustion powered automotive vehicles, special purpose equipment and powered ground equipment. I can perform system repairs and maintenance inspections; review guides such as inspection standards, schematics, and technical manuals to understand the functions of parts or systems; and troubleshoot vehicle systems to ensure requirements are met. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below. Your application will be further evaluated to determine if you meet the best qualified cut-off for referral to the selecting official.

  • PHYSICAL EFFORT: Frequently works while equipment is overhead and where parts inspected are in hard-to-reach places. This requires climbing, standing, stooping, bending, stretching, reaching, crawling and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts parts and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally heavier items.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside and outside, occasionally in bad weather. Subject to draft, excessive noise, fumes, dirt,dust, grease. Must stand on hard and damp surfaces for long periods of time. Is subject to cuts,bruises, shocks, burns, strain, skin irritations from fluids and fuels, broken bones, etc.
