Duties

Help
  • You will plan work assignments on an immediate and long-range basis in accordance with schedules of priorities established by higher level management.
  • You will provide general instructions and policy guidelines for 3 first level supervisors and 40 mechanics, workers, apprentices and helpers.
  • You will ensure nuclear and non-nuclear work performed by the Plastic Fabricator Shop is accomplished safely, economically and timely in accordance with written instructions/specifications.
  • You will review operations and methods to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
  • You will ensure subordinate supervisors effectively carry out policies in labor management and equal employment opportunity.
  • You will check work operations, completed work, and inspection reports, as required, to ensure that production and quality standards are met.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • Must be able to lift or carry sixty (60) pounds and occasionally over sixty (60) pounds.
  • Work is performed in shops, dry docks, on piers, aboard ships, submarines, barges, and various other facilities which sometimes require working from uncomfortable and cramped positions.
  • Position may involve lifting, turning, pulling, pushing, standing, crouching, stooping, kneeling, bending, sitting, climbing, and reaching.
  • Must be able to climb vertical ladders and work off of portable and suspended platforms, man lifts, crane boxes, and work in confined spaces and in high areas with approved fall protection.
  • Vision must be correctable within normal range in both eyes and must have peripheral vision that will enable the incumbent to avoid falls and moving objects.
  • May be required to be nuclear qualified.
  • This position is responsible for following and enforcing all established safety rules and requirements.
