Duties

  • You will conduct training sessions designed to update, improve, or upgrade the knowledge and skills of others.
  • You will select, modify, and use various instructional methods and techniques.
  • You will obtain textbooks, magazines, bulletins, charts, educational and instructional media, directives, and other training materials for use during training sessions, and developing training materials as needed.
  • You will show others proper inspection techniques and practices, explain safety precautions to be followed when performing inspections, and provide instruction in the use of materials, measuring devices, precision instruments, and safety devices.
  • You will make class and outside work assignments consistent with daily lesson plans, schedule practical exercises to accommodate time limitations, and monitor class work to ascertain progress.
  • You will evaluate the progress of workers in terms of such factors as interest, cooperation, assimilation of basic fundamentals and theory, and practical application of work methods.
  • You will develop and administer informal examinations of workers to test their progress in the training.
  • You will maintain individual progress charts e.g. practical factors and surveillance reports, maintain objective quality evidence of work and equipment worked on, and when necessary, indicate performance rating for each type of work.
  • You will be responsible for providing timely, accurate and quality documentation to NAVSEA and or NRRO when requested by management.
  • You will update and maintain question databanks for exam content to ensure relevance to inspection requirements and objectives of program requirements are met.

  • Work may be performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • The incumbent must possess normal color sensitivity, muscular coordination, visual acuity, and be able to make decisions in unusual situations.
  • Work may require lifting, and or carrying, generally not in excess of forty-four pounds.
