Duties

Help
  • You will analyze and interpret laboratory reports to determine the presence of hazardous environmental conditions and the degree of noncompliance with regulatory guidance.
  • You will advise higher graded specialists, supervisor and program managers when directed, on matters concerning environmental compliance and pollution prevention programs.
  • You will participate in meetings with community groups, federal, state and local regulatory agencies and other concerned groups regarding environmental issues related to the assigned areas of responsibility.
  • You will manage business operations for one or more environmental programs (e.g, EMS, air quality, water quality, spill prevention and response, solid and hazardous waste, toxic substances control, Emergency Planning, etc).

Qualifications

To Qualified FOR GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Manages business operations for one or more environmental programs, such as EMS, air quality, water quality, spill prevention and response, solid and hazardous waste, toxic substances control, natural and cultural resources, and Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act; 2) Conducts inspections of installation facilities and operations to ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations; 3) Provides input to higher graded specialists for consultation with appropriate installation organizations in developing procedures to correct violations or meet new program requirements; 4) Coordinates issues pertaining to environmental compliance and remediation actions; 5) Providing environmental support and participating in management team meetings to support the organization.   • Master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR
  • 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

  • LL.B. or J.D., if related
OR
  • A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience must equal one hundred percent.
