Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
Physical Effort: Works requires long periods of constant standing and walking on the tugboat while underway. During emergencies, may be required to endure long periods of work without rest. Must be able to climb vertical ladders and step over three foot bulwark on a rocking tug, which requires the use of legs, hands, and arms. Will be required to lift, carry and move material weighing up to 44 pounds. Must have peripheral vision enabling the incumbent to avoid falls and moving objects. Mush have sufficient hearing to hear verbal commands over surrounding noise of gasoline and diesel engines, tugboats and ship operations.
