The purpose of the position is to serve as the electrical engineering subject matter expert (SME) providing technical expertise and guidance for all aspects of the electrical infrastructure.
Summary

The purpose of the position is to serve as the electrical engineering subject matter expert (SME) providing technical expertise and guidance for all aspects of the electrical infrastructure.
As a Critical Infrastructure Project Engineer, you will:
Serve as the primary electrical technical authority overseeing the BPA Critical Infrastructure Program for Mission Critical and Business Critical facilities.
Plan, lead, coordinate, communicate, integrate and recommend electrical programmatic solutions for the overall success of the Critical Infrastructure Program.
Review the Critical Infrastructure asset replacement program with the NWFC Manager and recommend a comprehensive multi-year analysis and strategy.
Determine appropriate products or services with clients or customers to define project scope, requirements, and deliverables.
Review project details to ensure project activities and resources are coordinated to properly mitigate risk.
Serve as BPA's recognized technical expert (SME) and authority on the electrical Critical Infrastructure Program.
Develop and maintain Critical Facilities electrical and mechanical systems documentation.
Participate on emergency response teams after hours and on weekends, during emergency planning, and test scenario exercises.

This position does not support remote work. You will be required to report physically to the official reporting worksite as specified by the supervisor, but no less than 3 days per pay period

May be required to serve as Contracting Officers Representative for BPA grants and agreements; this duty includes additional training and certification.
On-call 24/7 to respond to equipment and system monitoring alarms to prevent disruptions to Transmission grid operations and to the Power Business Line.
Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required.

Qualifications
BASIC REQUIREMENT:
You must meet the minimum basic education and/or experience requirements for engineering positions in the Federal government.
1. Have a degree in engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. OR
2. Have a qualifying combination of education and experience as demonstrated by: Professional Registration or Licensure -- Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. OR
3. Have a qualifying combination of education and experience as demonstrated by: Written Test -- Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or any other written test required for professional registration by an engineering licensure board in the various States, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico. OR
4. Have a qualifying combination of education and experience as demonstrated by: Specified Academic Courses -- Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A in the announcement. The courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of an engineering program as described in paragraph A. OR
5.Have a qualifying combination of education and experience as demonstrated by: Related Curriculum -- Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least 1 year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Applying a wide range of electrical engineering theories, concepts, and methods to plan and conduct engineering studies and analyses serving as a project, planning, or program manager responsible for the design, engineering, cost estimating, and regulatory compliance of work efforts.
