Duties

Help
  • You will respond to emergencies as a member of an Engine Company, Truck Company, Rescue Company, Hazardous Materials Team and/or a Rescue Team which associated vehicle and equipment.
  • You will use fire prevention techniques, fire safety for inspection of buildings and spill response response.
  • You will act as the driver/operator of an emergency response pumper/ladder, brush fire fighting, ambulance, hazardous material response, or other rescue vehicle as required.
  • You will perform through safety and maintenance inspections on emergency transport vehicles, providing first echelon maintenance repairs as required.
  • You will conduct a complete examination of the patient to determine the nature, extent, and seriousness of their condition ad searches for alert symbols.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • You will be required to possess and maintain a current Firefighter I and II certification.
  • You will be required to possess and maintain a current Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic certification.
  • You will be required to possess and maintain a current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • You will be required to possess and maintain a current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Driver Operator Pumper Operator certification.
  • You will be required to possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be able to obtain a Government Emergency Vehicle Operators License within 90 days of employment and maintain such.
  • This position requires a work schedule of 72-hours per week or 144-hours bi-weekly.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing fire protection services to protect property and the environment which includes rescue and emergency medical services (wounds, trauma, fluid therapy etc.), conducting safety and maintenance inspections on emergency transport vehicles and performing first echelon maintenance repairs as needed.
