Duties

Help
  • Functions as professional Clinical Psychologist for Traumatic Brain Injury Program for Madigan Army Medical Center (MAMC) and Western Regional Medical Command.
  • Provides psychological screening, assessment (clinical interview, assessment, scoring, interpretation, documentation) and treatment with a broad range of active-duty service members
  • As an advisor and consultant, assists in developing, implementing, and managing the TBI Program for the psychological services of behavioral effects of central nervous system (CNS) dysfunction.
  • Provides clinical supervision and training to lower graded psychologists, clinicians and students providing psychological assessments and treatment for patients with difficult and complex problems within Madigan Army Medical Center.
  • Provides professional consultation and liaison to other medical departments within MAMC and Western Region Medical Center regarding the identification and diagnosis of TBI and complex neurobehavioral cases.
  • Provides specialized professional education on assessment of behavioral manifestations of organic CNS dysfunctions to medical personnel including interns and residents who are on rotations.
  • Conceptualizes, designs and coordinates research on psychological and behavioral consequences of CNS disease or injury.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
  • Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges
  • This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position requires the incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Clinical Psychologist: Degree: Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements below:

Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes: providing psychometric services and psychological assessments in screening traumatic brain injuries and post traumatic stress disorder for service members , family member and retirees. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Licensure
: This position requires a current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction.

Education
