Duties

Help
  • Serves as a recognized technical expert for data science, operations research, master data management, and data visualization.
  • Performs professional and scientific analytic work requiring the design, development, and adaptation of mathematical, statistical, econometric, and other scientific methods and techniques to provide advice and insight.
  • Responsible for planning, researching, and accomplishing project assignments which typically require the formulation and development of business process methods of existing operations.
  • Develops and conducts data science and operations research analysis and techniques.
  • Serves as an analyst to formulate, plan, and develop hypotheses, concepts, approaches and methods for attacking major problems in this broadly assigned area.
  • Derives conclusions, develops recommendations, and delivers written status updates, formal technical reports, and briefings to superiors.
  • Determines and reviews for automated data processing requirements (system analyses, math models, firmware, software, programs, etc.) in support of mission programs.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • The incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • TDY up to 5% may be required.
  • This is an Army Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Workforce position. Selectee must meet position requirements for Practitioner BUSINESS - COST ESTIMATING (BUS-CE) certification within 60 months as of entrance on duty.
  • One year probationary period may be required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement for Operations Research Analyst:

Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in operations research; or a degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.

Basic Requirements for Computer Scientist:

Degree: Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.


In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

GS 13: To qualify for the GS-13 level, all applicants must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-12): 1) Utilizing research methods and techniques to support cost and economic analyses AND 2) Utilizing a variety of advanced mathematical and descriptive and statistical technique; AND 3) Developing data science and operations research analysis and technique, AND 4) Preparing and presenting briefings and technical reports for executive level management.
