Summary

As a Senior Security Specialist serving as Program Security Officer (PSO) in the Office of Protective Services, you will be responsible for providing agency-wide oversight and guidance over all aspects of Special Access Program (SAP) security at locations across the United States. You will ensure compliance with extremely stringent security requirements, determine risks to SAP-level CNSI, identify mitigations, and assess and prioritize cost of risk mitigation measures.

Duties

Help
  • Designated as the Cognizant Security Authority (CSA) for Special Access Program (SAP) operations under the NASA SAP Coordinating Official (SAPCO). Oversees security management and execution of security policies/requirements for NASA SAP programs.
  • Works with Government Program Managers to develop, implement, and enforce security programs that protect all facets of SAP. Provides security subject matter expertise and nationwide oversight to ensure compliance with established policies/procedures.
  • Provides nationwide oversight to SAP Security Officers (GSSO) and Contractor Program Security Officers (CPSO) supporting NASA mission efforts. Conducts or verifies that NASA sponsored SAPFs are properly inspected for security compliance.
  • Applies risk management principles to SAP security architectures and environments. These principles include Identifying, characterizing, and assessing threats and the vulnerability of critical assets to specific threats..
  • Determines risks and identifies ways to mitigate risk. Assesses cost and resources to mitigate risk and prioritizes risk mitigation measures based on a strategy.
  • Analyzes threat and/or Intelligence information and coordinates highly sensitive and specialized investigations.

Qualifications

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

To qualify for GS-14, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level:

  • Performing facility security reviews and ensuring physical and technical security construction requirements that detect, deter, or neutralize threats involving espionage, sabotage, or terrorist activities have been met;
  • Reviewing and approving site-specific security products, such as Standard Operating Procedures, Operation Security Plans, or Security Plans for Test;
  • Identifying, resolving, or overseeing the resolution of security related issues to improve security posture.
