  • YOU WILL HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF POLICY, ORGANIZATIONS, AND METHODOLOGIES TO BE UTILIZED IN TRAINING DEVELOPMENT; TECHNIQUES AND TOOLS USED TO DESIGN AND DEVELOP TRAINING COURSES AND MATERIALS.
  • YOU WILL REVIEW EFFECTIVENESS OF EXISTING PROGRAMS, REVISE ONGOING PROGRAMS, AND DEVELOP/IMPLEMENT NEW TRAINING.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  1. APPLIES CONCEPTS, PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICES IN INSTRUCTIONAL SYSTEMS DESIGN THEORY, INCLUCING INTEGRATION OF INNOVATIVE TEACHING METHODS SUPPORTED BY TECHNOLOGY AND APPLYING INSTRUCTIONAL AND SYSTEMS KNOWLEDGE TO DIFFICULT AND COMPLEX WORK ASSIGNMENTS.
  2. ABILITY TO EVALUATE TRAINIGN PROGRAMS AND.OR COMPLETE SPECIAL PROJECTS IN ORDER TO RECOMMEND CHANGES AND MAKE MINOR ADJUSTMENTS IN TRAINING OR METHODS.
  3. EVALUATES AND MEASURES STUDENT PROGRESS, PROVIDE COUNSELING AND/OR SPECIAL INSTRUCTION AND DETERMINE ACTION REQUIRED TO RESOLVE MARGINAL STUDENT STATUS.

Education

Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must have successfully completed a 4 year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours appropriate to the work of the position. My course work included study in at least four of the five following areas: 1) Learning theory, psychology of learning, educational psychology: Study of learning theories as they relate to the systematic design, development, and validation of instructional material. 2) Instructional design practices: Study of the principles and techniques used in designing training programs, developing design strategy and models, and applying design methods to the improvement of instructional effectiveness. 3) Educational evaluation: Study of the techniques for evaluating the effectiveness of instructional/educational programs, including developing written and performance tests and survey instruments, and determining reliability and validity of evaluation instruments. 4) Instructional product development: Study of the techniques appropriate for developing training materials, including identifying learner characteristics, specifying objectives, applying training strategy, validating training materials, and evaluating training. 5) Computers in education and training: Study of the application of computers in education and training, including selecting appropriate computer software
