As an IT Specialist (Internet), typical work assignments include, but are not limited to, the following:
Coordinate planning, drafting, editing, and approval of web content to the Division's internal websites/web applications, the Division's presence on the Department's Intranet, and the Division's public web presence in an Agile environment.
Improve and stimulate interest in accessibility including serving on Department-wide workgroups, providing training, consulting services and technical assistance to plan, implement and monitor accessibility of information and communications technology (ICT) and ensure conformance to Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act.
Develop and maintain ENRD's web editorial calendars. Assist with administration and evolution of Division's Intranet content management system and enforcement/ongoing improvements to ENRD's taxonomy, metadata, and information architecture.
Serve as a technical authority on the web and electronic product development and dissemination process. Use semantically valid HTML to manage and edit all content for websites/web applications, in accordance with plain language best web practices.
Plan frequent updating of text, photography, video, slideshows and other materials. Maintain quality control across the site (links, photos, functionality and content). Manage and propose prominent web content and features to ensure freshness and relevance.
Advise Division staff and senior managers about new web opportunities and changes in the online communications environment to best showcase Division's work and recommend and implement web communication strategies.
Serve as instructional designer and multimedia specialist to create and deliver bespoke internal trainings and "how to" articles/tips to technical and non-technical audiences.
Continuously monitor and analyze web analytics, in conjunction with conducting usability studies, to ensure optimized user experience for all digital products and services.

To qualify for the IT Specialist (INET), you must meet A) the four competencies and B) qualification requirements below.

B) Qualification Requirements:
To qualify at the GS-12: You must have one year of specialized experience at, or equivalent to, the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties that include web content writing, editing, and management and experience with Section 508 compliance and instructional design.
To qualify at the GS-13: You must have one year of specialized experience at, or equivalent to, the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties that include serving as lead web content writer, editor, and manager and experience leading Section 508 compliance and instructional design.
Time in Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements (one year at the next lower grade) by the closing date of announcement.
