Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the 62d Maintenance Squadron Aircraft Fuel Systems Shift Supervisor, exercising technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers in accomplishing all trade and labor work aspects of C-17 A Aircraft fuel systems and shop support equipment maintenance, to train active duty military, civilian, and reservist personnel in their duties and responsibilities to maintain quality force objectives.

  • Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
  • Safeguards classified or sensitive materials, information, and/or files

  • Must maintain ability to open and close electrically controlled hangar doors
  • May be required to be certified on the operation of powered aerospace ground equipment
  • IAW DoDI 3020-42 this position has been locally or command designated as Mission Essential (ME); needed to ensure the continued operation of mission essential functions of the activity
  • Mission Essential personnel may be required to report for duty at normal times when the base is closed or delayed reporting, and remain on duty during phased or early release

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-8200, Fluid SystemsMaintenance Group. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Extensive knowledge of aircraft and equipment maintenance management practices, procedures and organizational and mission requirements; capabilities and limitations. Extensive knowledge of Air Force TO Form documentation requirements.
2. Knowledge of safety requirements as outlined in safety standards, regulations, and technical orders. Knowledge of and ability to implement sound personnel management policies, practices, and procedures, including sexual harassment and equal employment opportunity.
3. Comprehensive knowledge of assigned weapon systems including airframes, aircraft systems, and the interrelationships among systems and aircraft power plants, needed to make various operational checks and verify established performance limits.
4. Ability to read interpret instructions, specifications, blueprints, and technical orders, and to evaluate compliance, adequacy of repair actions, and proper installation of parts and modifications. Ability to manage personnel and equipment resources to effect flying and maintenance programs.
5. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
6. Skill in using and maintaining a variety of hand and power tools, equipment, and precision measuring and/or test equipment. Skill in troubleshooting, inspecting, and/or tracing hard-to-locate defects or problems.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
