Duties

Help
  • Operates a small full-service bar, mixing and serving the full range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
  • Records sales, makes change or prepares charge slips in accordance with operating procedures.
  • Stocks bar. Keeps bar, utensils, equipment and work area clean and sanitary.
  • Uses tact and courtesy to deny further sales to persons whose conduct has become unruly or who appear to be intoxicated.

  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training is required within 30 days of employment and a minimum of 4 hours refresher training annually.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, Chapter 2 to include a medical examination.
  • Incumbent is required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally controlled facilities.
  • Must be able to work all shifts to include weekends and holidays as required.

Qualifications

  • Must meet state/local age requirements (21) for the serving of alcohol at the time of appointment.
  • Be able to lift and carry weights up to 40 pounds.
  • Possess math skills necessary to calculate patron bills and take inventory.
  • Skill in mixing and serving alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages.
  • Ability to monitor and direct the work of other bar staff.
  • Applies simple arithmetic in calculating bills and making change.
  • Ability to recognize intoxicated and unruly patrons and take necessary remedial action.
  • Skill in recognizing impending shortages of inventory.

PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
FWS Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position.
  • All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee.
  • Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800.
Incentives and Bonuses
  • Incentives may be paid.
  • Up to 25% recruitment and retention incentive may be authorized for positions offering at least a guarantee of 10 hours per week.
Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
