Duties

Help

You will serve as a Supervisor Housing Management Specialist and be responsible for the plans; assignments and reviews work; provides training; approves leave; recommends selection, promotions and necessary disciplinary actions.

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:

  • Perform and direct surveys and studies at housing sites to determine housing requirements and collect data prior to developing Coast Guard short- and long-term housing plans.
  • Serve as a warranted leased housing contracting officer responsible for execution of government leased housing contracts.
  • Serve as senior Coast Guard representative in establishment, negotiation and management of housing Inter-Service Support Agreements (ISSA) involving Coast 2 Guard commands, DOD representative, Finance Center representatives and legal representatives.
  • Conduct and develop management studies to determine funding, personnel or material requirements for the management and utilization of housing assets within the organizational jurisdiction.

Qualifications

To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

Specialized experience must include the following:

  • administering a housing program for a mid-sized post or city;
  • conducting planning and budgeting as they pertain to housing administration & procedures and evaluating housing studies and judging between alternatives based on policy, good management & resource cost;
  • developing sound management policies and practices; and conducting quantitative research, performing analysis & making logical recommendations.
NOTE: Education can not be substituted for experience at this grade level.
