Duties

Help
  • Receive, identify, validate, weigh, unload, and store on shelve and in appropriate areas (i.e., nurse server, supply room, space saver, etc.)
  • Clean linens as they arrive from the Linen Contractor.
  • Review for accuracy all daily requests for linen supplies, make up request for those activities that are on the cart exchange system using preestablished daily requirements.
  • Select linens by type, size, and quantity; load them into automatic transport carts; weigh the carts and record weight on Daily Linen Request Form.
  • Use computerized automatic transport system to ship linen supplies to activities within the Medical Center.
  • Maintain weight log sheet on all linens received from the Linen Contractor daily.
  • Notify Chief, Environmental Services and or supervisor when operating level of linens is too low to meet demand.
  • Select necessary quantities of linens from shelf stock and places into operating stock.
  • Issue and receive uniforms to hospital staff, inventory, stocking, and records keeping.
  • Participate in physical inventory of all hospital linens and hospital whites.

  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 25 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
  • This position has a requirement to push carts weighing up to 650 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Laundry Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform common Laundry Work activities. Ability to collect, receive, and store linen and apparel, assemble and issue clean linen. Ability to set marking machine by pressing keys and follow established sequences to set procedure accordingly of Laundry Work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Physical Effort: Work requires lifting bundles weighing approximately 25 pounds when placing bundles for delivery and pushing heavy carts frequently weighing in excess of 650 pounds for extended distances and up a moderate incline. Works on hard surfaces and in areas that require continuous standing, stooping and bending.
  • Working Conditions: Work is performed indoors in areas that may be cold and drafty because of proximity to loading dock.
  • Work Environment: can be described as a linen room filled with shelves of linen and carts. Work hours are 0700-1530 with some overtime. Applicant will have to work on a computer tablet. Applicant is required to maintain hand and clothes hygiene.
