The position serves as an expert Market Research Analyst for the Office of Customer Care (QCC) within the Office of Customer and Stakeholder Engagement (CASE), Federal Acquisition Service (FAS).

Location of position:  This is a virtual position and duty location of this position will be determined upon selection.

Duties

Help

  • Conducts research and analysis on the market, selected strategic accounts, new business opportunities, and trend and spend analysis, using available data sources and contractor support when necessary to support account management, business planning, and customer outreach activities.
  • Develops guidelines and standards regarding data analysis, evaluation, and presentation in order to maximize the usefulness of this data to various clients.  Uses the results of data analysis to create metrics, develop marketing goals, establish benchmarks for marketing execution, and keep management apprised of program accomplishments.
  • Conducts or participates in studies of customer needs and private sector vendors who compete in the same product space as FAS. Evaluates key business features including corporate success, marketing methodologies, pricing and/or product delivery strategies, customer relationship management and other related business practices.
  • Creates dynamic and intuitive data visualizations to represent customer feedback, supply chain analytics, and quality control metrics. These visualizations effectively communicate complex data sets in an accessible format to stakeholders at all levels, enhancing understanding and driving informed decision-making across the organization.

The GS-13 salary range starts at $103,409.00 per year.  If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected.  

To qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or higher in the Federal service. 

Specialized Experience:

Specialized experience is experience developing and conducting market research, project management, and customer satisfaction surveys to maintain and improve customer relationships, and determine the effectiveness of marketplace approaches. This experience includes:

  • using qualitative and quantitative methods and techniques to analyze to interpret data;
  • making recommendations to management and serving as a liaison to key stakeholders to effectively increase the use of the organization’s services and products;
  • conducting customer service trend analysis;
  • establishing customer satisfaction surveys or comparable means of data capturing; and
  • assisting with complex market studies, which includes data analysis and statistical modeling to identify and assess trends and buying patterns.

How you will be evaluated

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.

You will be evaluated on the questions you answer during the application process, which will measure your overall possession of the following competencies or knowledge, skills, and abilities.  Your responses to these questions must be supported by your resume or your score may be lowered.  

  • Mastery of market research and general market research theories, policies, practices, and techniques required to serve as an expert on varied and highly complex  market research issues.
  • Mastery of business management theories and industry practices to serve as the project leader or manager of initiatives for major research projects from the preliminary planning phase throughout the entire project life cycle.
  • Expert high-level management consulting skills to provide high level expert technical assistance to clients on the analysis and use of market research data.

  • Skill in communicating, negotiating, and expressing technical concepts and ideas, orally and in writing, to technical and non-technical personnel. Skill in writing clearly, logically, and succinctly. Skill in making formal presentations to present and interpret research findings in an effective, clear, and professional manner.
  • Skill in providing briefings and more detailed presentations to all levels of management to present and implement policy and operational recommendations.
