As a HR ASSISTANT (CLASSIFICATION) (TITLE 5), GS-0203-7, you will provide limited technical assistance to Human Resources Specialists servicing both Army (ARNG) and Air National Guard (ANG) organizations and the full-time workforce within the state.

Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list:

  • Perform classification reviews by gathering information through position reviews and organization charts.
  • Answer general questions from supervisors and employees regarding procedures for classification change actions.
  • Process incoming Requests for Personnel Actions (RPAs).
  • Screen requests, documents, and reports for completeness and accuracy.
  • Input data into the Automated Personnel System.
  • Research, validate, and provide information on position descriptions.
  • Obtain records and statistical data to use for reports.
  • Compile and track program indicators.
  • Maintain position review records, applicable source documents, organization charts, and position descriptions.
  • Monitor and ensure timely implementation of classification releases.
  • Assist in fact-finding investigations, researching pertinent guidance to assist in problem resolution and drafting responses to inquiries regarding requirements of proposed actions.
  • Assist in validating funding and certifying position is valid and vacant.

  • This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration. Head of Agency requests to exceed 14 days in a calendar year must be approved in advance by the National Guard, Director of Manpower and Personnel (NGB-J1).
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Recruitment and relocation incentives may be available for this position.
  • PCS expenses may be authorized.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: MUST possess progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position with experience using computer and automation systems.

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the lower grade level in the Federal service in order to be considered for this position.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-7 Level MUST possess at least 1-year of experience equivalent to the GS-5 Level; specialized experience is experience that has prepared you to perform the duties of the position, such as gather information from position reviews and organization charts, advise on classification change actions, process Request for Personnel Actions (RPAs), etc.
