Duties

Help

As a PRIMARY PREVENTION SPECIALIST (PREV WF) (TITLE 5), GS-0101-11, you will serve as the implementer of the Integrated Primary Prevention (IPP) Program.

Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list:

  • Serve as the point of contact for harm and abuse prevention programs and activities; provides program coordination and serves as the subject matter expert for the Wing/Region IPP program.
  • Serve as the Primary Prevention Integrator (PPI) managing all aspects of a complex integrated primary prevention program (P3) for the Wing/Region.
  • Serve as the Wing/Region point of contact for the suicide prevention program, workplace and domestic violence programs in a non-clinical primary prevention, here after referred to as prevention, role in coordination with applicable offices and community agencies.
  • Deliver initial prevention activities, averting harm or abuse before it occurs.
  • Identify risk and protective factors that lead to or protect against unhealthy or unsafe behaviors.
  • Examine and interpret population data from the Wing/Region.
  • Develop coordinated plans for reducing risk factors and promoting protective factors for increased resiliency within the community.
  • Conduct assessments on strengths, weaknesses, opportunity, and threat (SWOT) analyses that form the basis for action, implementation, and program plan development activities.
  • Serve as the Wing/Region liaison for local military and civilian agencies to promote timely information exchange, coordinate collaborative prevention efforts, and establish resource links and community partnerships.
  • Establish networking, advocacy, and collaboration processes through which to promote IPP to the community.
  • Responsible for developing and overseeing healthy climate, resiliency, risk reduction activities, trainings, and communication campaigns within the Wing/Region.

  • This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration. This designation will not exceed 14 calendar days per year unless otherwise approved in advance by the TAG.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: MUST have successfully completed of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in behavioral or social science or related discipline that included at least 24 semester hours of course work in the behavioral or social sciences
or
Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field that included at least 24 semester hours of course work in the behavioral or social sciences.
or
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the lower grade level in the Federal service in order to be considered for this position.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-11 Level MUST possess at least 1-year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 Level; experience, education or training analyzing problems, identifying significant factors, gathering pertinent data and recognizing solutions; preparing reports, plans, policies and various correspondence; evaluating objectives and develop plans to facilitate the availability and effective utilization of various social science resources; must have knowledge of the organization and its mission and utilized the organizational staff procedures; experience applying analytical and evaluative techniques to issues or studies concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of social science program operations carried out by administrative or professional personnel, or substantive administrative support functions.
