Summary

As a Deputy Associate Administrator, you will work with the Associate Administrator to advance GSA’s mission and business goals through integrated communications strategies.

The Office of Strategic Communication is responsible for using communication to help the agency meet its mission and business goals.

THIS VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO CLOSE ON 10/31/2024

Participates in directing, coordinating, and supervising of various staff through the supervision of the division by advising, guiding, and working closely with branch chiefs in the planning and accomplishment of assigned programs.    

Coordinates the staffing of the program, selects key staff members and promotes the training and development of the staff.

Plans work to be accomplished by staff and resolves issues related to performance.  

Assumes full authority and responsibility for the management of the program in the absence of the Associate Administrator; including facilitating the day-to-day operations of the organization by resolving a myriad of problems and difficulties that constantly arise in the management of a comprehensive mission, encompassing the activities and responsibilities of multiple divisions.   

Serves as a principal advisor to the Associate Administrator and provides input and recommendations concerning operations, significant trends, recurring problems, and similar management concerns, as well as provide feedback on a wide range of complex communications
and operational issues, including providing administrative and technical direction on national communication and public affairs, and related activities.  

Utilizes strong business operations and principles that maximize use of resources and achieves compliance with all rules, regulations and standards.

  • Serve a one year probationary period, if required.
  • Undergo and pass a background investigation (Tier 4 investigation level).
  • Have your identity and work status eligibility verified if you are not a GSA employee.  We will use the Department of Homeland Security’s e-Verify system for this. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of continued employment.
  • Complete a financial disclosure report to verify that no conflict, or an appearance of conflict, exists between your financial interest and this position
  • Serve a one year supervisory or managerial probationary period, if required

This position has job functions that must be executed within a specific geographic location. The official duty station is a federal facility, leased space, or an alternative worksite (typically the employee’s home) and must be a physical address (not a PO Box) located within approximately a 50 miles radius of the duty location. Positions include routine telework work arrangements that are geographically specific to the location described below.

The GS-15 salary range starts at $163,964.00 per year.  If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected.  

To qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level or higher in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as directing and leading a team of employees performing the development and execution of strategic marketing and communication plans, public affairs campaigns and activities of national significance, including coordinating as needed with senior officials across and outside the organization.
