Duties

Help

Salary Range:  Up to $81,625. Grade level at the time of appointment is determined by experience and designated level of responsibility. 
Closing Date:   Open until filled.

Full time position within a small, collaborative, cross-functional creative services team. Assists with content development for print and digital products that include long-form books, brochures, manuals, testimony, technical reports, newsletters, presentations, special events, marketing materials, and websites. This position is located onsite with some telecommuting benefits.

Major Duties

  • Works independently and collaboratively during all stages of the content development process: researching, writing, fact-checking, editing, and proofreading.
  • Works with graphic designers and conveys requirements for design services verbally and in writing.
  • Assists with data entry and transferring hard-copy edits into native electronic files.
  • Consults with clients to determine requirements for deliverables. Manages client relationships.
  • Creates project plans and manages projects from inception to completion. Maintains an organized electronic filing system for project documentation.
  • Manages multiple assignments under strict deadlines and drives projects to completion.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of the congressional legislative process and Office of the Clerk responsibilities and practices.
  • Exercises discretion and independent judgment in fulfilling responsibilities. Acts with professionalism and extreme discretion in a politically charged environment.
  • Accepts performance-based coaching and direction. Works well under pressure and handles stress appropriately.
  • Meets attendance requirements as established by the office. Has flexibility to work overtime on short notice when necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to perform the major duties described above. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, or a related field. 
  • Three years of relevant professional experience. 
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to follow project plans. 
  • Proficiency using Chicago Manual of Style and other editorial guidelines.
  • Strong oral communications and presentation skills.
  • Advanced use of MS Office; knowledge of Adobe CC; familiarity with newsletter and survey software; experience using content management systems. Ability to adapt to new technologies.
