This position is located in the Office of Data Science Strategy (ODSS), Division of Program Coordination, Planning, and Strategic Coordination (DPCPSI), Office of the Director (OD), National Institutes of Health (NIH).
The Clinical Informatics Unit in the NIH Office of Data Science Strategy aims to improve access and utility of human-derived data, including clinical, translational and real-world data in research. In accomplishing its goals, the unit encourages and support the implementation, development, and adoption of clinical data standards, including data elements, data models, standard terminology and vocabulary, to enable interoperability of clinical and translational data for research purposes.
The incumbent will serve as a senior program staff performing a variety of duties and responsibilities relating to clinical informatics program administration, providing technical guidance in planning, coordinating, and evaluating proposed research projects and programs and performing analysis to understand the impact of the research portfolio. Understanding of relevant clinical informatics standards and systems is preferable. The incumbent will also engage discussions with relevant community stakeholders, including NIH Institutes, Centers and Offices (ICOs), HHS agencies, including the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC), patient organizations and other community stakeholders. The incumbent will represent ODSS in relevant working groups, interagency collaboration and other activities and will work closely with the ODSS Director, Deputy Director and Clinical Informatics Unit lead on these efforts.
