This position is part of the Office of Natural Resources Revenue (ONRR), Information & Digital Services (IDS), Information Security Services (ISS). As an IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST you will serve in a trainee capacity, performing routine and recurring developmental assignments to acquire knowledge and an understanding of functions, principles, practices, and methods used in the area of IT Cybersecurity.

Eligibility Requirements:
In order to be eligible for the Pathways Recent Graduates Program, the following qualifications must be met:
Be a U.S. citizen;
Possess a qualifying associate's, bachelor's, master's professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution, within the previous 2 years.
Veterans: If you are a veteran, as defined in 5 U.S.C. 2108, who, due to military service obligation, was precluded from applying to the Recent Graduates Program during any portion of the 2-year eligibility period, you shall have a full 2-year period of eligibility upon your release or discharge from active duty. In no event, however, may your eligibility period extend beyond 6 years from the date on which you completed the requirements of an academic course of study.

A combination of graduate level education and/or experience may substitute for the specialized experience requirement.
Only education from institutions which are accredited or preaccredited/candidate for accreditation may be used to meet education requirements.
Experience must be IT related and may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific intensive training (for example, IT certification) as appropriate. For all positions, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

At the GS-9 you must meet one of the following qualifications:
A. Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-07 level, or equivalent. Specialized experience includes the following: 1) Knowledge in cybersecurity architecture and cloud security practices, policies, and programs. 2) Knowledge in planning, developing, and maintaining information systems security programs, policies, and procedures. 3) Knowledge in planning information systems security assessments and web application assessments. 4) Knowledge in analyzing cybersecurity and privacy architecture principles, and cyber threats and vulnerabilities. OR
B. A Master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. Note: You must submit copies of your college transcripts. OR
C. An equivalent combination of experience and graduate level education as defined above which equals 100%. (Applicants who select this response must provide transcripts as verification of their education.)
Program Completion and Conversion Requirement
At the successful conclusion of the Pathways Program, Recent Graduates may be eligible for conversion to a permanent or a term (1-4 years in duration) appointment. Conversion is not guaranteed. To be considered for conversion the following requirements must be met:
Appointment under the Recent Graduates Program may not exceed one year (2 years for certain series such as 1102's). Appointees may be non-competitively converted to the competitive service after successful completion of at least one year of continuous service, in addition to all of the requirements of the Recent Graduates Program.
Work Schedule:
This position allows for a flexible work schedule.Upon conversion, promotion up to the full performance level may be made without further competition. However, promotion(s) will depend on the performance of the incumbent and are not guaranteed.
