Performs basic but progressively more difficult assignments under the close direction of a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced professional. Typically acts as a member of a team for projects/programs within a defined area of responsibility. Performs, monitors and tracks a variety of administrative tasks in implementing an office's administrative programs, policies, and procedures.
Established policies/procedures provide detailed guidance for almost all assignments, with little or no room for discretion. Typical assignments may include: Initiating requests for personnel actions for a variety of activities and working with the Human Resource Office to e.g., fill organizational vacancies, promotions, temporary assignments, reassignments, resignations, etc.; serving as the training coordinator and initiating requests for non-technical training courses; and maintaining reports on personnel statistics such as manpower programs, promotions, average and high grade/bands. Other activities include preparing travel authorizations and vouchers for administrative and procedural compliance, including proper cost accounting codes; initiating or reviewing procurement requests for equipment, etc. and ensuring justification of requested items meets the criteria for expenditures; providing advice and assistance on the Privacy Act, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), and paperwork management; and ensuring effective management of assigned agency property by conducting property inventories periodically.
Coordinates the assembly and preparation of the office's budget requirements. Modifies and maintains automated systems for tracking obligation and expenditures of funds throughout the execution phase of the annual operating budget. Maintains statistics and reports on expenditures of funds, reconciling discrepancies to ensure effective use of funds.
Assists higher level Administrative Officers and other FAA employees in the completion of analytical studies (space management, travel administration, etc.). Collects program information from FAA personnel and enters it into information systems. Tracks all financial, personnel, supply, and other administrative transactions through the office in both electronic form and on paper. Identifies the need for and develops instructions or procedures for handling correspondence, administrative correctness of correspondence and administrative reports, maintenance of files, and retention/disposal of records. Evaluates equipment needs; studies the features of various automated systems; conducts studies related to equipment usage; determines which systems best meet the needs of the office and/or are the most cost effective.
Regularly refers problems and work issues to a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced professional for guidance. Work is reviewed regularly during assignments and at completion to ensure timeliness and all aspects of quality. Work activities typically support the work of other employees and contribute to activities of the organizational level. In some specialties, the work may affect internal and external customers.
Performs other duties as assigned.
To qualify at the FV-F (FG/GS 5-9) level, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least three (3) years of progressively responsible general work experience. At least one (1) year of that experience must be equivalent to the FG/GS-4 level that demonstrates the ability to (1) analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions; (2) plan and organize work; and (3) communicate effectively.
Such experience may have been gained in administrative, professional, technical, investigative, or other responsible work.

Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree gained from an accredited college or university.

Combination education and experience may be qualifying for this position.
