Independently perform a variety of journeyman knowledge and skills in maintenance and operation duties on historical buildings and structures. Independently plans and completes projects, which involve constructing, altering, repairing, and/or modifying framework, rafters, doors, finished paneling, windows, rough furniture, interior/exterior trim, staircases, trusses, and beams. Spacing, accuracy and fit are essential and structural soundness or appearances are important. Repairs and installs signs throughout the Park. Measures, cuts, constructs, installs, repairs, and modifies routine millwork, framing, benches, partitions, tables, furniture, etc.
Performs work to close tolerances, exact fit, structural soundness, and acceptable appearance. Sets up and operates hand and power tools, saws, hammers, drills, routers, power glue guns, power saws, sanders, and planes, etc. Operates and uses various nails, screws, bonding materials, specialized fasteners, and other tools while preventing splitting, chipping, and splintering of materials. Plans and carries out projects from initial layout to completion. Projects involve constructing, altering, repairing, and/or modifying framework, rafters, doors, finished paneling, doors, windows, rough furniture, interior/exterior trim, staircases, trusses and beams. Spacing, accuracy and fit are essential, and structural soundness or appearance is important. Plans, measures, and lays out carpentry materials using advanced shop mathematics for complex and exact projects, and interpreting complex or incomplete instructions, sketches, blueprints, and building codes. Masonry, painting, plumbing, electrical, wastewater treatment, and custodial/janitorial, etc. Operates and performs regular preventative maintenance on light motor vehicles, trailers and power tools.

Accordingly, non-competitive rehire eligibility allows for re-appointment to the same position or another position appropriate for temporary appointment with the same qualification requirements (5 CFR 316.402[b][7]), based on series and grade, anywhere in the major subdivision (NPS).
If you have held a temporary seasonal appointment in the past 12 months and have already worked the maximum temporary appointment less than 1040 hours during that period, you are still welcome to apply. However, please be aware that exceeding the limit of 1040 hours in your established service year will result in the loss of your non-competitive rehire eligibility.
The limit can be exceeded by working multiple temporary seasonal positions that result in a combined total greater than 1040 hours. The limit also can be exceeded by working a single temporary seasonal appointment that exceeds 1040 hours, unless granted an exception by OPM.

Physical Demands: Physical effort is heavy to moderate, and requires occasional lifting or handling of objects or materials up to 50 pounds, unassisted, following proper lifting procedures to avoid injury. Frequently required to stand while working, climb ladders or scaffolding, and bend, stoop, climb, and work in awkward positions.You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
