EXIM's Recent Graduates Program affords developmental experiences in the Federal Government intended to promote possible careers in the civil service to individuals who have recently graduated from qualifying educational institutions or programs. Successful applicants are placed in a dynamic developmental program with the potential to lead to a civil service career in the Federal Government.
This position is in the Office of External Engagement under the supervision of the Vice President. The Office is responsible for administering EXIM's External Engagement Programs, including the planning of all EXIM's special events and outreach efforts to external customers, such as exporters, banks, and other interest groups, and where appropriate, including federal/ state/ local government agencies.
The incumbent is responsible for assisting with the management and engagement of stakeholder relationships, planning EXIM's annual conference and external events, and supporting the various EXIM advisory committees and councils.
This is a developmental position in which the full performance level is GS-12. As the incumbent progresses, he/she will receive assignments that:
- Require a higher level of knowledge
- Require less supervisory controls
- are progressively more complex.
Upon satisfactory meeting qualifications/performance requirements and at management's discretion, the incumbent may be advanced to the full performance level, GS-0301-12. It is the ability to demonstrate satisfactory performance at the higher level in all aspects of the position that is the primary basis for consideration for promotion. Meeting the qualification requirement for the higher-grade position does not automatically entitle the incumbent to promotion.

Current or Former Political Appointees: Pursuant to the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) oversight authority under section 1104(b)(2) of title 5, United States Code (U.S.C.) and section 5.2 of title 5, Code of Federal Regulations, OPM requires agencies to seek their approval prior to appointing any current or former political appointee to a permanent position (without time limits) in the civil service. A former or recent political appointee is someone who held a political appointment covered by OPM's policy within the previous 5-year period. OPM's oversight in this area safeguards merit system principles as well as fair and open competition free from political influence.
