As an engineer, the selected applicant will be part of a team of engineers and researchers conducting research and development (R&D) activities focused on improving indoor mapping, tracking, and navigation capabilities for first responders. Specifically, the individual will assist in the development of prototype hardware and software that will be used to demonstrate advanced indoor mapping technologies and measure the performance of indoor positioning systems. As part of the Location-based services team, the individual will: (a) Develop and train advanced classification and instance segmentation algorithms to identify Public Safety features in mixed point cloud/image datasets. (b) Develop software tools for researchers that will simplify tasks associated with working with point cloud datasets labeled with Public Safety relevant information. (c) Author technical and project deliverables as needed, including requirements, system architecture, concept of operations, reports, etc.
