Develops and conducts complex, scientifically credible preservation, mitigation, stabilization, and restoration projects needed to restore and/or maintain natural and cultural resources integrity.
Serves as a compliance expert for the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and other related laws and policy.
Incorporates appropriate GIS technology into work to provide comprehensive and scientifically sound answers to inquiries from managers and others.
Coordinates work within the work unit, with other park divisions, with other NPS units, and with partner organizations and tribes.
Identifies research needs, prepares requests for proposals or statements of work and provides oversight for research projects.
This position has a positive education requirement. You must have the required education or equivalent experience to satisfy the basic education requirement for this position. See QUALIFICATIONS above.

Tumacácori is a small park located in southern Arizona, 45 miles south of Tucson, and 19 miles north of the international border. One of the older units within the National Park System, Tumacácori was first established as a national monument in 1908 by President Theodore Roosevelt. The park preserves and interprets three Spanish colonial missions, two of which were first established in 1691. Tumacácori plays an important role in preserving these sites and their stories and provides a strong link to the area's multi-cultural heritage. The park includes a one-mile stretch of the Santa Cruz River, and gallery cottonwood forest. The Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail traverses the park.
