Performs repetitive and routine technical support tasks under technical supervision, operates equipment, instruments, and
software in addition to carrying out simple procedures and computations. Employee uses specific and detailed guidelines to work
within the framework of established NIST Safety regulations and procedures and refers problems to supervisor.
Provides technical support for manufacturing systems, manufacturing technologies, and machine tools used in the production of mechanical parts,
instruments, and measurement devices.
This position has an emphasis in manufacturing and the machinist trade in the provision of nonprofessional engineering support to research groups, engineers and metrology experts through the design, fabrication and machining of complex geometric mechanical parts and assemblies, the operation of complex manufacturing equipment and machine tools, and the planning and selection of appropriate manufacturing processes, setups, materials, tools and equipment.
This position allows applicants to qualify with education. Transcripts must be submitted to validate that the education requirement has been met. Unofficial transcripts will be accepted in the application package. However, an official copy will be required prior to a final offer of employment.
