The Physician in this position will support NIMHD's clinical and health services research program focused on understanding minority health and reducing or eliminating health and health care disparities through the support and/or development of initiatives that investigate clinical and social factors influencing the effectiveness of preventive and treatment strategies, patient safety , health information technologies, patient-provider communication and decision-making, access to and utilization of health care services, and the influence of policies, healthcare organizational structures and processes on health care quality, and health outcomes of health disparity populations. A Physician with experience in direct patient care will expand this line of research to include assessments of most effective models of healthcare delivery, implementation of guidelines of prevention and treatment of chronic diseases, and promoting patient self-management.
