Join the Amarillo VA Health Care System (AVAHCS) as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (Intermittent/Float Pool). You will perform daily care for residents including: activities of daily living, dressing, hygiene care, nail care, toileting, restorative programs, assistance with feeding, decluttering, end-of-life care, and post-mortem care. Demonstrate a caring, compassionate, and respectful attitude. You will assume a peer education and mentorship role with lower level LVNs, and serve as a team leader on neighborhood under RN guidance. Complete wound care treatment as ordered by physician. Including documentation and assessment for preventative wound care treatment. You will maintain a working knowledge of each neighborhood on unit, and assist other staff as necessary to ensure proper care. You will also gather information about patient condition and communicate to RN to develop specific plan of care for patient. Other duties include:
Continuation of Qualifications:
(i) Knowledge and skill in performing support duties for complex diagnostic tests and/or specialized practices or procedures, which include preparing the patient, assisting in the diagnostic examination, preparing and handling specialized instruments or other specialized equipment, and monitoring the patient's condition before, during, and following the procedure. Serves as a preceptor in orienting, educating, and training less experienced LPNs/LVNs or NAs/HTs related to support duties for these more complex, specialized tests/procedures.
(j) Actively seeks out educational opportunities to enhance nursing knowledge and skills, sharing new knowledge gained with other staff to improve and advance nursing practice.
