This position is located in the U.S. Department of Education, Federal Student Aid (FSA), Enforcement Office. The Enforcement Office is responsible and accountable for enforcing laws and rules governing the issuance, receipt and management of federal student aid. The incumbent is responsible for managing the investigative, research, and evidentiary support needed to fulfill the mission of the Enforcement Office.
As an Enforcement Investigator, you will be responsible for the following duties:
You must meet all time-in-grade and time-after competitive appointment qualifications within 30 days of the closing date of this vacancy announcement. Specialized Experience: For the GS-12 level, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is in or directly related to the line of work of this position and has equipped you with the knowledge and competencies to successfully perform the duties of this position. More specifically, specialized experience must include performing at least two (2) of the following three (3) duties or work assignments:
1. Knowledge of investigation and compliance principles, concepts, and practices in addressing complex cases.
2. Selecting, adapting, and applying investigation and negotiation techniques.
3. Researching, analyzing, interpreting and evaluating data and information.
