Acts as an individual contributor and/or member of a team, provides support and feedback to ARTCC SOCs and Managers, as well as to the telecommunications management team, regarding FTI service status, and restoration timeliness and/or issues. Assist with the installation of new or modified hardware/software and telecommunications systems. Understands the interface between telecommunications and other
disciplines and the impact to NAS operations.
Applies experience and detailed technical knowledge of telecommunications relating to acquisition, testing, integration, installation, utilization, or modification of telecommunications systems, facilities, services, and procedures, in order to accomplish assignments. Collects, records and analyzes telecommunication data/information to identifying problems to improve processes related to DSR specific or larger telecommunication programs and policies. The work focuses on overall NAS systems performance and the causes of system degradation related to telecommunications architecture. Analyzes Line Frequency Data and provides notification of anomalies to the telecommunications group and DSR staff. Identifies problems and discuss findings with more experienced specialists to determine corrective action.
Analyzes Maintenance Requests and Immediate Service Release Requests to provide awareness to the Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) help desk in supporting restoration and preventative maintenance of FAA Telecommunications Infrastructure (FTI) services with minimal impact to NAS operations. Conducts analysis of various FTI Reference material and FAA Orders pertaining to maintenance and coordination of FTI services, as needed for accuracy and currency. Provides analytical and statistical data for District Service Representative (DSR) /Administrative Telephone Systems Specialist (ATSS) studies and projects.
Contacts are primarily internal to the National Enterprise Operations, with regular contacts made between various service units within ATO to share information, provide data and/or written analyses, and discusses the statuses of assignments. May have regular contact with customers and/or external organizations.
Work is reviewed periodically, typically at major milestones and at completion, for policy compliance and alignment with the requirements of projects and/or other work activities. Frequently refers difficult problems and work issues to a manager, program/ project manager, team leader, or more experienced technical specialist when guidelines are not available or applicable.
To qualify for this position, all applicants MUST demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year (52-weeks) of Specialized Experience. To be creditable, Specialized Experience must have been equivalent to the next lower level grade level (FG/GS-11) or Band Level (G). Specialized Experience may include, but is not limited to:
