The position is located in the Aircraft Certification Service (AIR). Incumbent serves as a Technical Analyst supporting the AIR State Safety program. May act as a contributing specialist on large work activities or as a team leader for single or small work activities. The State Safety Program Support role focuses on alignment of AIR State Safety Program (SSP) and/or Safety Management System (SMS) requirements and activities. Performs multiple, varying, and complex assignments under the limited direction of a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced technical specialist. Applies experience and advanced technical knowledge to accomplish assignments and to develop plans and techniques to improve programs and policies. Understands how his/her technical area interacts with or is affected by other disciplines and considers the objectives of the major subdivision and LOB/SO when developing, integrating, and implementing solutions to diverse, complex problems. Responsibilities at the J-band level also include: The incumbent applies comprehensive technical knowledge, as well as an understanding of new technologies and methodologies, to solve complex problems and develop improved technical processes or systems. Assignments frequently require knowledge and experience working across functional and/or organizational lines. Provides guidance, as a recognized expert, to the advisor for the US panel member on the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Safety Management Panel and attend teleconferences and meetings as required.
