The Senior Solutions Architect is a principal advisor to the Office of Application Engineering and Development (OAED) Office Director, OAED Deputy Director, OAED Division Director(s), business product leadership, and product delivery teams on the evaluation of business needs and the planning and execution of automation (IT solutions) to best support those business needs. The Senior Solutions Architect is responsible for the intersection of business needs, software development, infrastructure, and emerging technologies. The Senior Solutions Architect is responsible for a coherent product(s) and product line(s) design and implementation for solutions that meet business needs while also achieving enterprise efficiencies that meet technology goals, such as ensuring security, establishing resiliency, and finding cost savings through technology (i.e. Cloud first).
Specifically, the incumbent performs the following functions:
Product/Product Line Roadmaps must include consideration for the most appropriate, modern solutions to meet business requirements, including, but not limited to:
Product technical roadmaps must align with annual and multi-year business plans as agreed upon between business product leadership and OAED. Incumbent must understand how budget and acquisition parameters influence delivery and adjust roadmaps/delivery plans accordingly.
The physical worksite for this position is located in Alexandria, VA. However, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is currently under a maximum telework posture due to the COVID-19 pandemic; therefore, this position is currently under a 100 percent telework schedule. The position’s telework schedule will likely change in the future when USPTO moves away from its maximum telework posture. At that time, the incumbent will be expected to report to the physical work site in accordance with the updated status requirements of their supervisor. The nature and scope of future telework opportunities will be subject to the unit’s telework policy, any applicable bargaining unit agreements, and supervisory approval. Payment of relocation expenses, as applicable, will be paid in accordance with this Job Opportunity Announcement.
You must be a U.S. citizen to qualify for this position. You will need to successfully complete a background security investigation before you can be appointed into this position. Before entering on duty, you will be required to complete a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-278. You will need to provide the information annually.
