This Supervisory Health Scientist will serve as the Deputy Director for the Office of Research on Women's Health (ORWH). This office is within the Division of Program Coordination, Planning, and Strategic Initiatives, Office of the Director, National Institutes of Health.
ORWH is the first Public Health Service office dedicated specifically to promote women's health research within and beyond the NIH scientific community.

This position serves as the ORWH Deputy Director and is a primary NIH representative to the HHS Office of Women's Health and related HHS Operating Divisions' women's health offices. The ORWH Deputy Director plays a central and unique role at NIH by providing scientific and executive leadership in the implementation of an NIH-wide program of women's health research. Core duties will include:
- leading the ORWH scientific team and co-leading the NIH Coordinating Committee on Research on Women's Health (CCRWH) from planning through mobilization of resources, activities, and research to build a cutting-edge scientific portfolio to advance women's health, and sex as a biological variable research priorities;
- monitoring scientific progress of funded research to ensure accomplishment of aims as well as identification of gaps and needs for initiative and program development;
- supporting the development of policies in response to changes in multiple levels of funding, legislative program changes, and/or emerging areas of science;
- implementing a comprehensive research, training, and career development program;
- organizing and convening scientific workshops and coordinating scientific activities;
- representing ORWH and NIH in discussions with high ranking university, scientific and professional societies and associations, international science/health officials, and federal officials.
