SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The Assistant Project Manager (APM) is a temporary staff member in the MRI Program Management Office (PMO), which manages single or multiple projects and programs. The APM will partner with other Project Managers (PM) in supporting roles as required. The APM is responsible for learning and practicing effective and efficient project management standards, methods and techniques that are industry proven and PMO promoted. The APM conducts project management related tasks as assigned by the PM or the Senior PM required for OMB, DOD, DON, USMC and Commercial Industry Compliance to include Cybersecurity and Payment Card Industry.
Assigned tasks including, but be not limited to, managing internal resources, third parties and vendors through project initiation, planning, execution, control and close. Delivers intended project result on time, within scope and budget. Creates and executes team efforts to define and document, project charters, plans and reports. Supports the PM on managing sponsor, customer and stakeholder expectations. Acts on project plans as instructed by the PM. The project plans including, but not limited to, project schedule, scope, budget, human resources and procurement as appropriate for project size and complexity. The APM supports resolution of issues at the lowest levels possible to a favorable end, reports and escalates potential roadblocks in a timely manner. The APM supports the project team on creating appropriate and comprehensive project documentation.
EVALUATIONS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree, or the ability to obtain one within one year of hire, in Computer Science, Project Management, Business Management or a related field appropriate to the work of position AND demonstrates knowledge in project initiation, planning, scheduling, execution and control. Must demonstrate understanding and application of project knowledge areas for integration, scope, time, cost, quality, human resources, communication, risk, procurement and stakeholders. Must demonstrate an understanding of the software and system development life cycle (SDLC) and the project management life cycle (PMLC). Must have understanding of predictive and agile methodologies, business analysis and system compliance requirements for cybersecurity and data protection. Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and customer personnel, verbally and in writing. Must demonstrate organization and coordination skills.
Eligible for incremental telework as determined by MR/MF policy.
