The Office of Security & Hazardous Materials Safety (ASH) advises, represents, and assists the FAA Administrator regarding all security and hazardous materials safety matters that impact the national airspace system and the flying public. ASH serves as the leader for the identification, development, implementation, maintenance and oversight of security processes across the organization to reduce risks posed by espionage, sabotage, theft, vandalism, terrorism and other criminal acts.

Position is open to all U.S. Citizens.
1. Provide oversight on the development, justification and execution of the ASH budget which is comprised of different sources and types of funding. Establish protocols for the development and issuance of organizational guidance on the ASH budget and ensure funds are properly allocated, obligated, and spent in a timely and effective manner.
2. Lead the overall planning, direction, coordination, and management of all aspects of the ASH technical training and professional development program. Serve as the executive agent responsible for the design, development, and implementation of training for all ASH managers and employees. Represent ASH as a voting member of FAA’s Learning and Development Council (LDC).
3. Lead Workforce Services in the various ASH Human Capital programs, including Staffing, Executive support, Occupational Health and Safety, Employee Relations, Equal Employment Opportunity, Dispute Resolution, Awards and Recognition, Workforce and Succession Planning, Performance Management, Internal ASH Implementation Guidance, Employee Orientation, Program Management, and Telework. Provide oversight and executive direction on ASH guidance and ensures proper and timely implementation.
4. Provide overall direction and guidance for the development, acquisition, testing, product improvements, fielding and sustainment of acquisitions and procurement. Provide oversight on analysis of procurement programs, proposals, studies, reports and other documents prepared for, or on behalf of ASH executives. Oversee annual acquisitions/procurement plans, semiannual and quarterly work schedules, accession schedules for procurement, production output projections, and other plans and controls for maintaining efficient acquisitions.
5. Oversee ASH application systems, with overall authority for the development and implementation of security workflows, solutions, and systems for ASH. Provide oversight that supports the ASH organization in the development of security solutions for programs including Facility Security, Personnel Security, Credentialing, ID Media, Visitors, Contractor and Industrial Security, Foreign Travel, Classified/National Security Information, Classified/National Security Systems, Communications Security, Sensitive Unclassified Information/Controlled Unclassified Information, Investigations, and Hazardous Materials Safety.
As a basic requirement for entry into the FAA Executive System, you must provide evidence of progressively responsible leadership experience that is indicative of senior executive level management capability; and that is directly related to the skills and abilities outlined under the Leadership and Technical Requirements listed below.
