The incumbent directs the daily activities of a work group in a complex fee collection operation which consists of entrance stations, campgrounds, collection stations in visitor center settings and self-pay stations via automated fee machines. Incumbent is also responsible for the reconciliation, remittance and deposit of fees collected. Incumbent is responsible for the recruitment and hiring of fee collection staff and volunteers; creates plans, schedules and assigns work to subordinate staff; approves leave and assures timely completion of time and attendance reports. The incumbent evaluates work performance of subordinate staff, addresses employee development, training, issues and concerns. Incumbent is a subject matter expert in relation to the NPS fee collection program and provides technical and policy direction to subordinates and park staff.
Petrified Forest National Park Area Information: Petrified Forest National Park is located in northeastern Arizona, bisected by U.S. Interstate 40, approximately 26 miles east of Holbrook, Arizona. The park has a concession operation that includes a curio shop, restaurant and gas station. Beyond this, other services are not available in the park. Some shopping opportunities exist in Holbrook. Greater shopping opportunities exist in Flagstaff, AZ (110 miles west) or Gallup, NM (70 miles east). Major shopping centers exist in the metropolitan Phoenix, AZ (225 miles) and Albuquerque, NM (210) miles) areas. Year-around recreational opportunities abound within a short commuting distance. The park is situated on a high plateau with an elevation averaging 5,600 feet, with a semi-arid climate. Temperatures range from 0 in winter to 100 in the summer. Precipitation averages 9 inches per year. A junior college (Northland Pioneer College) campus in Holbrook offers classes and workshops for adult education/enrichment with both day and night classes.
Saguaro National Park is uniquely situated around the 500 square miles that make up Tucson; which is at the heart of the Sonoran desert. Sitting at just under 2,400 feet above sea level, Tucson is 60 miles north of the U.S. Mexican border and about 100 miles south of the state capital, Phoenix. the Park's two districts are separated by the city's 1 million residents. The Tucson Mountain District (TMD) on the west, and the Rincon Mountain District (RMD) to the east, are approximately 30 miles (45-60 minutes) apart. While similar in terms of plants and animals, the intricate details make both areas praiseworthy. The TMD (west) boasts large stands of saguaro cactus creating a breathtaking saguaro forest, whereas the RMD (east) hosts a magnificent sky island, where you can find bears, cougars and the ever elusive coati (aka coatimundi).

Physical Demands: Standing for long periods of time, walking, bending, lifting of moderately heavy items and sedentary work is required. Mental stress and physical fatigue occur due to high volume of personal contacts and the responsibility of dealing with large amounts of money.
Working Conditions: Work is performed in small outdoor structures with open windows which results in exposures to extremes of temperature, rain, snow, wind, and direct sunlight. High levels of vehicle noise and emissions may exist during heavy visitation periods. May also require sitting at a computer work station for long periods of time. Frequent walking and hiking outside, especially in campgrounds, in a variety of weather conditions. Occasional lifting of heavy items may be required. Duties may be performed alone in isolated locations.

Grand Canyon National Park South Rim Area Information. This position is stationed at the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park located in Northwest Arizona, approximately 60 miles north of Williams and 85 miles Northwest of Flagstaff at an elevation of 7,000 feet. Temperatures range from approximately 85 degrees in the summer to 17 degrees in the winter. Grand Canyon Village has schools K-12, a daycare center, post office, general store, banking facilities, churches, a recreation center, a clinic with resident physicians and several restaurants. The park community consists of some 2,000 people, including employees of the NPS and concessionaires and their family members. There are often employment opportunities for family members in the park and surrounding areas. The park community is small enough that many employees choose to walk or bike from their homes to work. Complete shopping, educational, medical and professional services are available in Williams and Flagstaff. Permanent employees obtain housing either through a bid system or by assignment into shared furnished quarters. Because of limited housing, when an employees is assigned shared quarters, the park is not able to provide accommodations for family member and pets.
