PHYSICAL EFFORT: Performs moderate to heavy lifting (up to 45 pounds; with assistance requested on items that exceed 45 pounds) when moving material by hand or hand truck. Heavier material is moved by materials handling equipment, or with the assistance of co-workers. Work requires standing and/or walking for lengthy periods and often requires bending, stooping, pushing, and/or pulling materials.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a warehouse environment or at outside work areas on a year-round basis. Incumbent may be subject to cuts, bruises, abrasions, and scrapes in moving or handling equipment, and are subject to hazards involved in working in close proximity to moving equipment such as conveyors, tow-line systems, and materials handling equipment. In addition, may also be exposed to dust, dirt, grease, solvents, and to high noise levels in mechanized areas. When working with hazardous materials, may be subject to exposure from radiation, toxins, explosive hazards, or chemical fumes. Employee is required to wear safety clothing and equipment appropriate for the job and work area where assigned, as directed by supervisor. Employee will be required to wear approved hearing protective devices and an audiometric test will be conducted, as necessary, when working near or around noise hazardous areas, machinery, or equipment.
