Applies experience and detailed technical knowledge of mathematical principles, methods, procedures, techniques or relationship to accomplish assignments.
Identifies problems through the use of a variety of scientific, engineering, and economic, where the accuracy of the relationships, the rigor and economy of mathematical operations, and the logical necessity of the results are the controlling considerations.
Investigates, using numerical analysis and other mathematical techniques, in assisting subject-matter specialists or more experience mathematician in problem-solving.
Performs mathematical or statistical modeling to use for analysis or for computational simulation.
Identifies problems by using mathematical analysis to assists more experienced specialist in the development of computation programs.
Applies experience in collecting, recording, and analyzing for the computation of problems which are complicated by numerous variables and several parameters.
Applies new mathematical expressions or formulas for use in solving or computing problems.
Provides recommendations to improve work processes.

Produces analysis for use in FAA briefs to facilities as well as senior management.
Provides data for use in external publication to stakeholders.
Uses FAA operational databases, FAA key performance indicator definitions, and the automation software to produce the FAA operational metrics. This includes Oracle, JAVA, ‘R’,Geographic Information Systems, and data visualization software (such as, Tableau).
Assists in maintaining the integrity of automation systems by ensuring that documentation is maintained and contract deliverables to FAA, such as source code are met.
Contacts are primarily internal to the organization, major subdivision, and the ATO; may have some contact with external FAA offices or stakeholders outside the FAA, for the purpose of sharing information, providing data and/or written analyses, and discussing the statuses of assignments.
Refers difficult problems and work issues to a manager, program/project manager, team leader, or more experienced technical specialist when guidelines are not available or applicable.
Work is reviewed periodically during assignments and at completion to ensure
timeliness and technical compliance with the requirements of the project or other work activity.
Candidates must have one year (52 weeks) of SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (FV-G or FG/GS-11) that is typically related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been at least equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.

Degree: mathematics; or the equivalent of a major that included at least 24 semester hours in mathematics.

The total course work in either A or B above must have included differential and integral calculus and, in addition, four advanced mathematics courses requiring calculus or equivalent mathematics courses as a prerequisite.
