As a Statistician (Education), the incumbent will perform the following duties;
- Provides input for the design and execution of large-scale assessment studies related to a diverse range of educational topics, ensuring the statistical validity and technical soundness of data presentation and analysis for the proposed topics.
- Provides technical guidance to teams of contractors or staff in the production of sophisticated statistical analyses, ensuring that appropriate combinations of skills and abilities are efficiently used within a tightly controlled schedule that is externally driven.
- Performs sophisticated statistical analyses of NCES databases. Reports may summarize data related to specific or general educational issues or may reflect the development of new analytical methods to better address the data needs of policy makers.
- Effectively represents NCES to external organizations and officials by maintaining contact with related education research and data user communities, and developing and promoting user-friendly dissemination products for the release of NCES findings.

Specialized Experience for the GS-15
One year of experience equivalent to the GS-14 performing two (2) out of the three (3) of the following duties or work assignments:
1. Experience providing technical analytical support for the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) or other large scale educational assessments.
2. Experience as a Contracting Officer's Representative for a large scale educational assessment contract.
3. Experience leading a team of technical experts on a large scale educational assessment effort.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
The quality of your experience will be measured by the extent to which you possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs). 1. Skills in designing and managing statistical studies that are based on a wide range of national survey data on education and manage project requirements of a tight budgetary and timeline constraints.
