The ACIO is responsible for leading and managing the U.S. Department of the Treasury Cyber Security Program, with responsibility for the development of cyber security policies and procedures, coordinating and monitoring Department and Bureau compliance, managing the high value asset (HVA) program, and addressing both government-wide and departmental cyber security requirements.

The programs and activities directed by the incumbent are critical to the support of this mission and the day-to-day delivery of all Treasury Bureaus and offices. The actions and decisions of the incumbent have a significant impact on the timeliness, quality, and cost of using and exchanging information, which is essential to the accomplishment of Treasury’s mission.
The Cyber Security organization leads efforts to secure systems and applications; ensure network and systems integrity, mitigate and respond to threats and vulnerabilities, and support activities related to the Department's national security responsibilities, The ACIO for Cyber Security serves as the executive lead for development, publication, and oversight of Departmental information security policies, standards, and guidance, as well as coordination, integration, training and enforcement of all aspects of Treasury's cyber security program. The ACIO is also responsible for providing technical support, assistance, direction, and guidance to Bureaus.
The incumbent is under the general administrative direction of the DCIO. Direction is provided at a broad administrative and policy level, and work is reviewed in terms of overall program performance. Guidelines include related legislation; Treasury and Bureau policy, regulations, and instructions; and regulations issued by GSA, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), National Security Agency, and the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Guidelines in many situations are not complete and therefore the incumbent must be recognized as an authority in his/her field of work in order to provide the leadership and confidence required in the position. The incumbent must exercise an extremely high degree of leadership, initiative, judgment, and ability.
To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, candidates must possess specialized experience at a senior level which demonstrates ability to perform the duties described above; including progressively responsible supervisory or managerial experience demonstrating ability to manage people and resources. Candidates are strongly encouraged to address each Executive Core Qualifications (ECQ's) and Mandatory Technical Qualifications (MTQ's) separately. Candidates who choose not to address both the ECQ's and MTQ's separately will not be disqualified; but must ensure their resume addresses each sufficient for evaluation. To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, candidates must possess at least 5 years of senior-level Cyber Security specialized experience as well as 1 year equivalent to a GS-15 or equivalent within the Federal government which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
EXECUTIVE CORE QUALIFICATIONS (ECQs): The ECQs describe the leadership skills needed to succeed in the Senior Executive Service (SES) and are in addition to the specific mandatory technical qualifications listed below. MANDATORY TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS (MTQs): The MTQs describe the necessary technical knowledge, skills, and competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of this position. Experience must have been at a sufficiently high level of difficulty to show clearly that the candidate possesses the required professional and technical qualifications and core qualification set forth below.
