This is a full-time position. The Office of Information Technology (OIT) provides the development, operation, maintenance, and support of Information Systems for the Supreme Court of the United States. The Office of Information Technology (OIT) staff operates and administers distributed network architectures that support a fully virtualized environment of end user workstations and servers, geographically diverse data centers, website administration using a virtual machine infrastructure linked with Content Delivery Network (CDN) solution, and administers several complex Local Area Networks which connects these resources.
The incumbent is responsible for design, implementation, day to day operations and optimization of the Courts Network Infrastructure (NI) both at the Court and various remote sites. The Network Infrastructure (NI) includes copper and fiber cable plant, routers, switches, access points, wireless controllers, firewalls, hardware load balancers, circuits, Network Management Systems (NMS), and Content Delivery Networks (CDN).
The incumbent will perform technical analysis and administration of the Network Infrastructure (NI) include the following: security patching, periodic maintenance, "break-fix" actions, troubleshooting, configuring, testing, installing cabling as needed, fault isolation, preventative maintenance, install hardware/software/firmware upgrades, problem solving, equipment inventory, and all other aspects of technical support. The incumbent is expected to quickly react to and resolve problems that may impact the critical functions of the Court.
College degree in the field of engineering, computer science, or a related field preferred; however a degree can be substituted for years of experience or technical training provided by previous employer.
