As an Aviation Safety Technician at the FV-E level:
Incumbent determines proper actions based on records management directives and orders, which includes research and retrieves historical records, policy and interpretative materials, correspondence and other related certification documentation. The position is responsible for introducing new and/or updated policy and guidance concerning records management and informing instructing office personnel of changes.
Provides support, assistance and perform continued operational safety certification, foreign validation and oversight program responsibilities including keeping aspects of the office work tracking database current. Update delegated organization activities for supervisors, maintain designee appointment/coordination tracking current. Incumbent coordinates with applicants and provides information to management and office personnel on behalf of the the Program Managers.
Assist in tracking deliverables and certification project status with daily and weekly updates. Schedules, facilitates internal and applicant meetings on behalf of the program managers and ensures that weekly status meeting preparations are complete by developing and updating detailed spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations. Performs other duties as assigned.
Demonstrates some independence in planning time, but frequently coordinates with the Program Manager or more experienced employee to prioritize tasks and use assigned resources.
Contacts are primarily internal to the organization with managers and other employees to share information and/or discuss the statuses of assigned tasks. External contacts are with customers and other parties on routine matters that relate to the professional or technical occupations that is being supported.
Established policies/procedures provide guidance for almost all tasks, but provide some discretion for the employee to select the most appropriate approach(es). Works under general instructions provided by the Program Manager or more experienced employee.
Frequently refers problems and work issues to the Program Manager when guidelines are not available or applicable. May assist in developing and recommending solutions on some occasions.
Work is reviewed frequently at major stages of assigned tasks and at completion to ensure timeliness and alignment with the requirements of projects and/or work activities. Work activities support the work of other employees and contribute to the activities of the organization.
As an Aviation Safety Technician at the FV-F level, in addition to the duties performed at the E Band, the incumbent will:
Works under limited instructions that are provided by a the Program Manager or more experienced employee. May provide recommendations to improve work process. Resolves most problems and work issues without the assistance of a manager or other experienced employee. Identifies and informs managers and/or other employees of problems/issues that require their attention and helps them develop and recommend solutions . Provides guidance to lower level support staff members for handling routine problems and issues.
Work is reviewed periodically through status reports and at completion, to ensure policy compliance and alignment with the requirements of projects and/or work activities. Work activities support multiple projects/programs and contribute to the objectives of one or more organizational units and/or major subdivisions. The work may affect the objectives of one or more LOB/SOs.
Performs other duties as assigned.
To qualify for the position at the FV-E level you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-D or FG/GS-3-6 in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes: records management, tracking technical data, performing administrative procedures, computer skills and knowledge of common software applications and writing skills.
