BASIC REQUIREMENT
A. Degree: A bachelor's (or higher) degree in economics that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus;
OR
B. Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
In addition to the Basic Requirement listed above, you must meet the required specialized experience below:
GS-13: Applicants must demonstrate at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience requirements for the GS-13 level of this position are: 1)Conceiving, formulating research, and producing publications that are of interest and value to the field of economic analysis and research on major issues relevant to domestic and global agricultural markets and trade; 2) Developing products in the identified field of research that solve important scientific problems; 3) Presenting information to professional societies on technical matters and practices in the field of economic analysis and research on major issues relevant to domestic and global agricultural markets and trade.
GS-14: Applicants must demonstrate 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience requirements for the GS-14 level of this position are: 1) Primary authorship of research publications, products, or analytical techniques that are of considerable interest and value to the field of economic analysis and research on major issues affecting agricultural markets and trade; 2) Selection to serve on important committees and review panels of technical groups and professional organizations; 3) Consultation by users and other researchers who are respected in their fields of study; 4) experience formulating hypotheses to be investigated, leading teams to conduct economic research studies, or publishing findings in high-impact agency and academic publication outlets.
GS-15: Applicants must demonstrate 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience requirements for the GS-15 level of this position are: 1)Primary authorship of a number of important papers, models, theories, and/or techniques that impact the advancement of or are accepted as authoritative in the field of economic analysis and research on major issues affecting agricultural markets and trade; 2) Recognition by the scientific community as an authority in the field; 3) Experience participating in symposia that define the state of the discipline or introduce new areas in the field; 4) experience leading teams to develop and implement economic research studies and projects, conducting economic analysis using sophisticated modeling techniques, or publishing findings from the economic analysis in high-impact agency and academic publication outlets.
